My name is Katie McKown and I am the pastor of Scottsville Baptist Church. Thank you for visiting our website.
A little about me: I grew up in the small town of Beaver Dam, Kentucky where my parents still reside. I also have two brothers, a sister-in-law and niece who live in Kentucky. I like to visit as often as possible to see family and to cheer on the Wildcats!
In the spring of 2003 I graduated from Georgetown College with a degree in Elementary Education. Throughout college I was able to travel overseas on mission to Kenya and be involved in the Baptist Student Union. College was a great experience. I had a lot of fun and heard God calling me to ministry. In the fall of 2003 I began the Master of Divinity program at Baylor University's Truett Seminary. At Truett I was encouraged by professors and friends, all of whom helped me hear God's particular call for me. After graduating from Truett I served as Associate Pastor of Memorial Baptist Church for six wonderful years.
On November 11, 2012 I began as pastor of Scottsville Baptist Church. I am grateful. God has given me a love of pastoral care and preaching and a passion for missions. I enjoy working with people of all ages—from babies to eighties (nineties too!). Getting folks connected to Jesus Christ and one another brings me deep joy.
I am grateful to serve alongside the good folks of 690 Harrison Street. We are a congregation committed to worship, study of the Bible, discipleship, missions, ministry and fellowship. Everyone is welcome at Scottsville Baptist Church. We hope you will join us soon! Please contact us if you have questions. You are welcome to check out my blog (“Hermeneutics in High Heels: Conversation about life and ministry” www.hermeneuticsinhighheels.blogspot.com) or email me (firstname.lastname@example.org).
