We believe that worship of God is central to the Christian experience and encourage a strong, regular practice of coming into the presence of God as a corporate community of faith to express our love and adoration for Him.

Our worship is usually what would be considered "Blended."   We will sing contemporary praises, traditional hymns, gospel and ancient songs.  We value other traditions such as Catholic, Quaker, Anglican and Celtic.  We believe the arts such as music, drama, dance, readings and visual art are important expressions of our worship, as well as the use of silence and meditation.

Music is an integral part of our worship and our church life.  There are several opportunities to be a part of this ministry.

The Adult Choir meets each Wednesday evening for practice. They lead our worship through music each week and at Advent and Easter perform special musical presentations.

There are also opportunities for individuals who sing or play an instrument to share during worship. On special occasions, guest musicians or musical groups are invited to participate in worship.

The young people at Scottsville Baptist Church are a vital part of our church life. They are faced with many challenges in today’s world and we see our role as helping to shape their spiritual lives so they have the necessary tools to deal with the twists and turns of life.  The young people have opportunities to become nurtured in the Christian faith. Join us at the Youth Group meetings.

Children are considered an integral part of our church family at Scottsville Baptist Church. It is our desire to do all we can to minister to them and their families, help them to grow in their knowledge of God and to experience His love for them through the programs and activities that we offer.

Each Sunday during our morning worship there is a special time that we set aside for our children. All of the children are invited to the front of the sanctuary where one of our laypeople leads them in learning about how to be a follower of Jesus.  Following our Children’s Sermon, the children are dismissed to Children’s Church where they remain for the remainder of the worship service. They are led by our Children’s Worship Team in a variety of learning experiences.
